No. 15 Warriors Easily Handle Roadrunners in Weekend Sweep

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University took care of business this past weekend at Sidner Ice Arena as they swept Metropolitan State University of Denver. The Warriors took the opener 6-1 on Friday night and then shutout the Roadrunner on Saturday 3-0. With the wins Midland moves to 7-9 on the year while MSU-Denver falls to 8-8-1.


In the series opener Blake Neumann scored twice in the first period as Midland controlled the game from the first face-off until the final buzzer. Neumann’s first goal came at 5:10 on an assist from Zach Voss and Evan Anderson. The second came as time was winding down in the period with Cy Jenson and Brad Hepler getting credit with the helpers.


Voss scored a goal of his own in the second as the two teams each scored once. Ryan Conybear and Jason Henry got the assist on Voss’ goal at the 13:48 mark.


Midland put up three goals for good measure in the final period of play. Jenson scored at 1:16 on a pass from Ben Henry and Jake Mullendore. Two minutes later Mullendore was on the receiving end assists from Neumann and Voss to put the Warriors up 5-1.


With just under two minutes left Ben Henry scored to finish off the Roadrunners. Hepler and Voss assisted on the final Friday night goal.


Dakota McDonald picked up the win stopping 10 of 11 shots. The Warriors outshot the Roadrunners 46-11 on the night.


On Saturday evening the two teams played a scoreless first and third period in Midland’s 3-0 victory. Midland once again outshot the visitors this time by a 41-20 advantage. The Warriors three goals were scored by Mullendore, Nic Blanchette and Neumann in the middle period. Neumann and Mulldedore were credited with an assist for each other. Matt Blaszkiewicz also picked up a point on Neumann’s goal.


Conybear and Connor Hyde each registered an assist for Blanchette’s goal.


The Warriors’ home-stand continues this upcoming weekend as they host University of Nebraska on November 10th and 11th. The Warriors and the Huskers will square off on Friday at 7:45 p.m. and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Sidner Ice Arena in Fremont.
