SEWARD, Neb. – Midland University’s competitive cheer team earned another win on Saturday afternoon as they won the Concordia Invitational. The Warriors were one six schools competing in Seward, Nebraska on the campus of Concordia University and earned the top score by a large margin.
Their routine picked up a score of 79.18, over 20 points better than Doane University who was second with a score of 57.32. Hastings College was close behind the Tigers with a mark 57.08. Host-school Concordia was 4th with a 56.03 while Northwestern College and Mount Marty College earned scores of 52.37 and 38.90.
“I am extremely proud of today’s performance. Many athletes pushed through injuries and never once let it affect them during the performance,” said head coach Kayla Murray. “It amazes me how they turn it on each time they touch the mat. It’s truly humbling to coach these talented athletes. We are ready to put in some work over the next week to gear up for the GPAC conference championship next weekend.”
Midland will be back on the mats this next week as they look to defend their Great Plains Athletic Conference title on Saturday, February 15. The GPAC Championship will be held on the campus of Doane in Crete, Nebraska with competitions set for a 12:00 p.m. start.
