FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University head men’s hockey coach Jason Cirone has officially announced the Warriors’ 2018-19 schedule.
Midland will be making a move to the North American Intercollegiate Hockey Association (NAIHA) this season. The NAIHA is the governing body of intercollegiate hockey programs at National Association of Intercollegiate Association (NAIA) institutions. Previously Midland had be a part of the American Club Hockey Association (ACHA).
“Moving to the NAIA division is extremely important for the continued growth of our program,” Coach Cirone stated. “We are now a varsity program playing in a varsity league. We have fellow NAIA teams in close proximity to us, so we will be able to build up some pretty good rivalries in the coming years.”
Other institutions in the NAIHA include Waldorf University, Lindenwood University-Belleville, Indiana Institute of Technology, Concordia University Ann Arbor, and Lawrence Technological University.
The Warriors’ 32-game schedule includes 12 home dates starting in October. Midland opens the season at home versus nearby Waldorf on October 5th and 6th at Sidner Ice Arena.
Midland will play a handful of games outside of the NAIHA with a trip to Augustana College in Rock Port, Illinois to end the first semester and a trip to University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond just before the second semester.
The NAIHA will host their national championship tournament at the beginning of March in Nashville, Tennessee.
