Midland University hosted the 11th Annual Draemel Classic over the weekend and defeated a pair of teams to improve to 7-2 on the season. On Saturday they cruised to a 95-71 victory over Haskell Indian Nations University. Then on Sunday they used a big second half to take down No. 4 Bellevue University, 88-77.
Chase Parsons was the high point man against the Indians with 22 points. Ryan Williams (18), Reggie Gradwell (12), and Nick Wood (11) joined him in double figures. Marti Fonolla dished out eight assists and TK Dixson had seven as the team had 25 assists on 37 made field goals.
On Sunday they had their work cut out for them, facing the No. 4 ranked Bruins. Last year Bellevue advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament and returned a solid core from that team this year.
Williams would finish with a 26 points and add 10 rebounds for a double-double. Dixson finished with 14 while Gradwell and Parsons each added 13.
Dixson had five assists against just one turnover to lead the Warriors’ attack.
Midland (7-2, 1-1) will look to continue their momentum in to conference play on Wednesday as they travel to Doane (3-5, 0-3). The Warriors and the Tigers will tipoff at 8:00 p.m. at Crete on November 29th.
