Local Sports Coming Up Today: Tuesday, 10/2


The Fremont High girls golf team competes in the District Meet today at Tiburon Golf Course, hosted by Millard West.  Tee times begin at 9:30.


At the C-2 District Golf Meet at Indian Trails Country Club in Beemer, West Point-Beemer won the team title with a 431; Columbus Scotus was second at 447 and Omaha Brownell-Talbot was third at 450.  Bergan finished fifth at 478.  For Bergan, Lily Bojanski finished fifth and qualified for the state meet, shooting a 103.  Boone Central’s Abby Broderson was the meet medalist, shooting an 89.  The Class C State Meet is Monday and Tuesday at River’s Edge Golf Course, in North Platte.

The B-2 District Golf Meet was held at River Wild’s Golf Course, in Blair.  Omaha Duchesne Academy won the meet with a 333; Elkhorn was second at 382 and Columbus Lakeview was third at 436.  Blair’s Tori Loudner finished 12th and qualified for the state meet.  Anna Boor of Omaha Duchesne Academy was the meet medalist, shooting a 76.  The Class B State Meet is Monday and Tuesday at Quail Run Golf Course, in Columbus.

The Omaha men’s golf team is in 11th place following the second round of The Jackrabbit hosted by South Dakota State on Monday at The Prairie Club. The Mavericks shot a team round of 305 and now have a total score of 609 after 36 holes.  UCF leads the event with a total of 561.  Kansas is second at 564, and Idaho is third at 584.  The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.


Yesterday’s Fremont High tennis dual at Columbus was postponed.  It will be played today, in Columbus, at 4pm.


The Fremont High volleyball team will host Lincoln Pius X, tonight at Al Bahe Gymnasium, at 7:00.  The match will be broadcast on Big Dog 98.9 FM and 1340 AM.
