Local Sports Coming Up Today, April 13th


The Fremont High boys golf team will host the Fremont Invite at the Fremont Golf Club at 8:30, this morning.

The Fremont High Pat Murphy Track and Field Invite is today at Appleget Field.  Field Events begin at 12:30.

The Archbishop Bergan boys golf team competes against Bishop Neumann and GACC at Indian Trails CC in Beemer at 4:00, today.


The Blair High baseball team will host Nebraska City at Vet’s Field at 4:30, today.


The Midland Warrior track and field teams compete in the Jim Duncan Invite, in Des Moines, Iowa, today and tomorrow.

The Warrior softball team will host Morningside College at Christensen Field, in a 1:30 doubleheader, today.

The Midland women and men’s tennis teams host Doane at 4:00 today at the Fremont High Tennis Courts.


The Nebraska softball team (28-14, 6-5 Big Ten) hosts Purdue (11-29, 3-6 Big Ten) for a three-game conference series this weekend, although weather has adjusted the original schedule. The teams will now play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. The first 500 fans on Friday will receive a free Husker visor. Game three will be played on Sunday, beginning at noon.

 Frank Schwindel and Nick Dini homered, but Memphis beat the Chasers for a 3rd consecutive day, defeating Omaha 5-4 on Thursday night at AutoZone Park.

The Storm Chasers continue their road trip in Nashville on Friday evening at 6:35 PM Central Time. Omaha’s starter is to be determined, while LHP Eric Jokisch (0-1, 5.40) throws for the Sounds.
