In high school volleyball action last night at Fremont High’s Al Bahe Gymnasium, Fremont lost to Lincoln Southwest, three games to two, 25-27, 25-18, 25-9, 20-25, 15-12. The Silverhawks got 15 kills from Liz Tomlin while Fremont was led by Ellah Hofer with ten. Lincoln Southwest is 16-9 and plays in the Omaha Westside Invite, Friday and Saturday. Fremont is 13-14 and plays at Lincoln Southeast, Thursday night.

The Maverick volleyball program dropped another five-set thriller Tuesday evening to the Denver Pioneers.
The Mavericks (10-11, 3-4) won the first and third sets, but ultimately fell to Denver (12-6, 4-2) by a score of 3-2 (25-19, 26-28, 26-24, 19-25, 10-15).
Omaha has the weekend off and returns home for its next match Monday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. The Mavericks welcome South Dakota State inside Baxter Arena for Summit League action.
Nate Vontz finished as Creighton‘s top performer in each round to help the Bluejay men’s golf team to an 11th place finish at the 35th Georgetown Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Tuesday in Beallsville, Md.
Vontz tied for 15th place with loops of 72, 75 and 70. His 70 on Tuesday was his team-high fifth round of the fall of par or better. The junior owned five birdies on the morning.
