The Nebraska baseball team (26-19) took down Arizona State in the series rubber match, 8-5, at Hawks Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Huskers conclude their regular season next week when they host Michigan at Hawks Field for a three-game series, Thursday through Saturday. Thursday’s series opener is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Creighton Baseball team wrapped up a series victory of St. John’s with a 4-2 win over the Red Storm on Sunday, May 12th. The win moved the Bluejays to 31-11 on the season and 11-4 in BIG EAST play, while St. John’s fell to 27-21 overall and 6-9 in conference action.
The Bluejays return to the diamond on Tuesday as Creighton battles crosstown rival UNO at 11:00 am in the Cox Kids Day at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. Omaha baseball dropped its third-straight series finale Sunday afternoon at Western Illinois.
The Mavericks (27-18-1, 19-8) now have a 1.5 game lead on second-place South Dakota State with the 8-5 loss to the Leathernecks (20-28, 14-13).
Huskers Track & Field
Jasmine Barge (100-meter hurdles) and Candice Dominguez (high jump) won gold medals in their respective events on the final day of the Big Ten Championships at the Francis X. Cretzmeyer Track on Sunday. Carlos Davis (discus) and Barge (400-meter hurdles) also finished with bronze medals.
Nebraska finished fourth on both the men’s and women’s side. The Big Red men finished with 76.5 points, while the Iowa men won the team crown with 116 points. The Husker women tallied up 92.5 points and Ohio State won the women’s title with 126 points.
Qualifiers to the NCAA West Preliminary Round will be determined early in the week, with athletes who have top-48 marks in the West Region earning bids to the competition. The NCAA West Preliminary Round is scheduled for May 23-25 in Sacramento, California.
