The Archbishop Bergan boys golf team finished in second place at the D-2 District Meet at Club 91 in Clarkson, yesterday. Bergan shot a 372. Burwell was first at 370 and Fullerton was third at 381. Jordan McBride of Burwell was the meet medalist, shooting an 81. Bergan’s Spencer Hamilton was sixth at 88 and Preston Tracy was tenth at 93. The Knights will advance to the Class D State Tournament, May 21st and 22nd at Lake Maloney Golf Course, in North Platte.
The Blair Bears hosted the B-2 Boys District Golf Meet at River Wilds Golf Course, yesterday. The Bears finished seventh with a 397. Omaha Skutt Catholic was first at 329. Bishop Neumann was second at 333 and Bennington was third at 345. Teague Stewart of West Point-Beemer/Scribner-Snyder was the meet medalist with a 76.
Storm Chasers right fielder Brett Phillips and first baseman Samir Duenez each drove in three runs, including a longball from Phillips, as Omaha scored five runs in the first inning to earn their sixth straight road victory in an 11-5 triumph over the Iowa Cubs on Monday afternoon at Principal Park.
