It wasn’t an ideal day to play golf on Tuesday at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln. Fremont High School was among the teams that braved the rain and cold during the Lincoln Southwest Invitational. The host school, led by medalist Geran Sander (71), won the meet with a 298. Defending state champion Norfolk was second with 312.
The Tigers finished with a 385. Senior Jack Kranz led the Tigers by shooting an 85. Cal Miller finished with a 96. Logan Martinez finished with a 100 while Kenan Brodd (104) and Nick Lamme (107) also competed.
In district high school soccer last night, the Gretna boys defeated Fremont, 9-1. Fremont ends the year, 3-12.
In the B-3 Boys Soccer Sub-District at South Sioux City, yesterday, Mount Michael defeated Blair- 2-1.
In the B-2 Girls Soccer Sub-District at Bennington, Blair defeated Omaha Roncalli Catholic, 1-0. The Lady Bears will play Bennington, tomorrow night at 6:00, in the Sub-District Final.
Eight of the Bluejays nine hits were of the extra base variety in Creighton’s 6-2 win over Omaha on Tuesday, April 30. The win moved the Bluejays to 26-10 on the season, while UNO fell to 25-14-1 overall.
Omaha Storm Chasers‘ center fielder Brett Phillips and designated hitter Cheslor Cuthbert both drove in three runs, while Storm Chasers second baseman Nicky Lopez reached base four times in a 9-4 victory over the Nashville Sounds at First Tennessee Park on Tuesday evening.
