FREMONT – The Midland University Women’s Golf team finished tied for 4th place at Tuesday’s Midland Invite at Fremont Country Club.
The Lady Warriors shot a team score of 363 during the 18-hole tournament, finishing tied for 4th out of nine teams with College of St. Mary. Mount Marty College finished first with a team score of 346, six strokes ahead of second place Dakota Wesleyan.
Senior Jessica Rehtus shot the low round for the Lady Warriors at 87, finishing in 10th individually with a score of 87. Other top finishers for Midland included junior Tiffany Scheele (T-17, 91), senior Paige Mestl (T-19, 92), and freshman Mateya Peters (T-21, 93). Doane University’s Tressa Bull was the individual champion with round of 79.
“The girls played much better this week than during our first meet,” head coach Warren Kuhl said. “I believe they are getting a better feel for the their swings and are having better control.”
Midland turns its attention to next week’s two-day Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Classic. Competition dates for the tournament at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln are Sunday, September 16 and Monday, September 17.
