The Omaha baseball team fell 6-5 in extra innings to Kansas State Wednesday night at Werner Park.
Kansas State’s Dylan Watts scored the eventual winning run from third off a wild pitch. The Mavericks had one final chance in the bottom of the inning, but the Wildcats were able to record a pair of strikeouts and a pop fly to hold on defensively and seal the game.
Both Hunter Hughes and Thomas DeBonville led the way for Omaha with a hit and an RBI apiece, while the duo of Grant Suponchick and Cam Fowler (0-1) totaled three strikeouts each through 2.0 and 4.0 innings, respectively.
The Mavericks return to Summit League action with a three-game series at North Dakota State this weekend, April 27-29. First pitch on Friday, April 27 is set for at 6:30 p.m. in Fargo, N.D.
