Husker Wrestling, Tennis, Gymnastics All Post Winning Weekend


The 11th-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers wrestling team defeated the No. 14 Northern Iowa Panthers in front of a record Tumble N’ Rumble crowd of 4,699 Saturday night at the Devaney Center. With the win, Nebraska is now undefeated in its last 13 duals against UNI (12-0-1).

With the win, #11 Nebraska moves to 7-2 (1-1 B1G) on the season and #14 Northern Iowa drops to 2-3 (2-0 Big 12).


The Nebraska men’s tennis team (1-2, 0-0 Big Ten) earned its first win of the season against the Florida A&M Rattlers (0-3, 0-0 MEAC), 4-0, at the Florida State Spring Invitational on Sunday in Tallahassee.

The Huskers will keep practicing for a couple of weeks before returning to action in a doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 26 in Dallas, Texas. NU will take on SMU at 1 p.m. CT and Northern Colorado at 5 p.m. CT.


The No. 8 Nebraska women’s gymnastics (1-1, 0-0 Big Ten) team defeated Washington (0-1, 0-0 PAC-12) 195.550 – 195.250 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Saturday night in front of a record setting crowd of 4,699 to capture Heather Brink’s first win as a head coach and of the season.

NU will hit the road for their first Big Ten competition of the season at Rutgers on Jan. 19 at 12 p.m. CT before returning home to the Devaney Center for another Big Ten matchup against Illinois on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.
