The Nebraska soccer team (0-1) opened its regular season with a 4-0 loss to Kansas at Rock Chalk Park on Thursday night.
The Jayhawks’ Katie McClure recorded a hat trick to lead an offense that outshot the Huskers by a 15-13 margin. McClure set the tone early with a goal in the third minute before adding scores in the 25th and 78th minutes. She added an assist on Bri Amos’ goal in the ninth minute.
The Huskers return to action next weekend when they host Clemson (Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:05 p.m.) and Baylor (Sunday, Sept. 1 at 7:05 p.m.) at Hibner Stadium.
The Nebraska volleyball team begins another season with the annual Red-White Scrimmage this Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Devaney Center.
The Husker players will sign autographs following the scrimmage on the northwest concourse of the Devaney Center.
The match will be broadcast on Big Dog 98.9 FM and 1340 AM with the Husker Sports Network coverage beginning at 5:30pm.
Nebraska is coming off its fourth straight NCAA Semifinals appearance and returns 10 players from its 2018 NCAA runner-up squad. For the first time in school history, the Huskers will have no seniors on their roster.

The Creighton women’s soccer team opens the 2019 season with the first of six consecutive home matches on Friday, Aug. 23 as the Bluejays face off with the Kansas State Wildcats. Kickoff tonight is 7pm.
The Omaha volleyball team wrapped up its annual Black and White Scrimmage Thursday night inside Baxter Arena.
After trailing 1-0 in the match, Team White rallied back and took the next three sets to claim the victory (25-22, 25-7, 25-18, 25-23).
The Mavericks officially begin the season with the Omaha Challenge Aug. 30-31 inside Baxter Arena. The tournament features Albany, Idaho State and Abilene Christian in a round-robin format.
