Husker Update: MBB Drops to Michigan State, Women Host Illinois on Saturday

Men’s Basketball

Dachon Burke Jr. had 18 of his 21 points in the first half, but Nebraska was unable to slow down Michigan State, falling 86-65 on Thursday night.

Nebraska was within 39-36 at the break, but shot just 28 percent in the second half, while the Spartans shot 61 percent after the break to pull away in the final 20 minutes.

The Huskers return to action on Monday, Feb. 24, as the Huskers travel to Champaign to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Women’s Basketball

The Nebraska women’s basketball team will complete its 2019-20 regular-season home schedule by playing host to Illinois on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon in Lincoln. Tip-off between the Huskers (16-11, 6-10 Big Ten) and the Fighting Illini (11-15, 2-13 Big Ten) is set for 2 p.m.

Baseball

The Nebraska baseball team (1-2) travels to San Diego, Calif., this weekend for the Tony Gwynn Legacy.

The Huskers open the event against San Diego (3-1) on Friday at 8 p.m. (CT)/6 p.m. (PT) at Fowler Park. The match-up will be streamed live online via the WCC Network.

On Saturday, NU battles San Diego State (3-1) at Tony Gwynn Stadium, starting at 8 p.m. (CT)/6 p.m. (PT). Online streaming for the contest will be provided by the Mountain West Network.

Nebraska wraps up its trip to San Diego on Sunday against Arizona (3-1) at Tony Gwynn Stadium, starting at noon (CT)/10 a.m. (PT).

Softball

The Nebraska softball team (5-4) will head west to Cathedral City, Calif., for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic this weekend. The Huskers will play five games from Feb. 21 to 23 and will face some of their toughest opponents of the season. Nebraska plays three of the top 10 teams in the country which include No. 2 Washington and No. 3 Oklahoma. A pair of former Big 12 foes, the Huskers and Sooners will clash on Feb. 21 at 12:30 p.m. CT. Later that day, Nebraska will take on BYU at 5:30 p.m. CT. On Saturday, Nebraska will compete against Cal and second-ranked Washington at 4:30 p.m. CT and 7 p.m. CT, respectively. The weekend will conclude on Sunday against No. 7/9 Florida (11 a.m. CT).
