The No. 46 Nebraska women’s tennis team (16-6, 5-4 Big Ten) welcomes the Wisconsin Badgers on Friday and the Minnesota Gophers on Sunday for its final 2018 regular season matches. Sunday’s match against the Gophers will feature a celebration for seniors Katerina Matysova and Brianna Lashway as they play their final home match at Nebraska.
The Badgers (8-13, 2-7 Big Ten) are heading into Friday’s 5 p.m. match off of a 4-0 loss to No. 15 Illinois last Sunday. The defeat was Wisconsin’s six loss in a row after falling to ranked opponents No. 12 Northwestern (7-0) and No. 31 Ohio State (5-2), as well as other Big Ten opponents Penn State (4-3), Michigan State (6-1) and Purdue (5-2). The Badgers collected wins over Rutgers (7-0) and Maryland (5-2) in March after a 4-3 loss to Minnesota.
After this weekend’s matches, the women’s tennis team will wait for announcements on Big Ten Tournament placement results. The 2018 Big Ten Tournament will take place in Minneapolis, Minn., from Thursday, April 26, through Sunday, April 29.
