High School Sports Results: Softball, Golf, XCountry


The Fremont High softball team hosted Kearney in a doubleheader at the Schilke Complex, Thursday night.  In game one, Kearney won 9-8.  Jewel Ashbrook suffered the loss working all seven innings, giving up 14 hits, five earned runs while striking out one and walking one.  Tori Baker went 3-4 with two runs scored, Carlie Neuhaus hit a three-run home run and Jaylee Cone was 2-4 with 2 RBI’s.

In game two, Fremont won 13-12.  Neuhaus got the win, working 5.1 innings while giving up 10 hits, nine earned runs, striking out two and walking three.  Ashbrook earned the save in 1.2 innings giving up two hits while striking out one.  Neuhaus was 2-3 with 2 rbi’s.  Fremont is 6-1 and plays in the Blair Invitational tomorrow.


The Archbishop Bergan girls golf team took first in a triangular with Bennington and Arlington at Stone Creek Golf Course, yesterday.  Bergan shot a 210, Bennington shot 212 and Arlington shot 352.  For the Knights, Lily Bojanski tied for first with Bennington’s Claire Thompson, shooting a 47.  Anna Vojbeda shot a 50, Kinley Shallberg shot 52, Carsyn Heller shot 61 and Bailey DeGroff shot a 62.

Cross Country

The Bergan Cross-Country teams ran at the East Butler Invite at Timber Point Recreation Area yesterday.  Individually, Dre Vance led all runners with a sixth place finish.
