Hastings’ Duncan Field to Host American Legion Regionals

HASTINGS – The 2019 Mid-South American Legion Baseball Regional Tournament will be held August 7-11 at Duncan Field in Hastings, Nebraska. The Regional Tournament will feature state championship teams from Nebraska, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas as well as the host team Hastings Five Points Bank. The champion of the double elimination tournament will advance to the American Legion World Series August 15-19 in Shelby, North Carolina on Veterans Field at Keeter Stadium.

In hosting the 2019 tournament, Hastings becomes the first Nebraska city to host an American Legion Regional since 2004.  Duncan Field last hosted a Regional in 1976 and had previously held three other regionals. Duncan Field has played host to the American Legion World Series four times: 1959-61 and again in 1969.

“If you are a diehard or just a casual fan of our National Pastime, Duncan Field is going to be the place to be,” said Hastings Baseball Committee Chairman, Gail Jones. “Come see some of the best and most competitive baseball you’re ever going to have the opportunity to see, being played by young men who participate for the love of the game.”

The Regional Committee has planned several special events into the tournament to encourage area residents to attend the contests, including a visit from Hastings native and Husker legend Tom Osborne. Coach Osborne will throw out the first pitch prior to the 4 pm game on Saturday, August 10th.
