The First State Bank American Legion Seniors baseball team won the Class A American Division Playoffs with an 8-2 victory over 52’s Patriots (Millard South), last night at Omaha Creighton Prep’s Jurgensen Park.  Brody Sintek improved to 11-0 on the mound this season, pitching 6.1 innings, giving up four hits and striking out nine.  Sintek talked about what worked well:

First State pounded out fourteen hits.  Jackson Gilfry and Eli Herink went 2-for-4.  Dillon Dix was 2-for-5.  Mitchell Glause was 2-for-3 and Donnie Mueller was 2-for-4.  With the win, First State claimed it’s first championship on a state level since 1946.  Head Coach Jeff Hayden:

Millard South ends the year 33-20.  First State is 31-8 and will take on the National Division Playoff champion, Gretna, in a best 2-out-of-3 series beginning tomorrow night at Gretna.  The winner of the championship series will be crowned the Class A Senior Legion State Champion, and advance to the American Legion Mid-South Regional, at Duncan Field, in Hastings, which begins Wednesday.
