FREMONT – Tuesday night was another strong meet for the Tigers swim team, showing plenty of solid times & personal improvement.
On the girls side, Subway “Swimmer of the Meet” honors went to Kinley Shallberg. Kinley had state secondary cuts in the 50 free and 100 back. She also won both races and swam a lifetime best in the 100 backstroke.
Emma Walz won a pair of races tonight for the tigers winning the 200 IM and 100 free, while teammate Karsen Jesse added to the wins in the 200 free and 100 breast. Lauren Gifford added another win in the 500 free while placing 2nd in the 50 free behind Shallberg.
Newcomers Ellie Schiemann and Elizabeth Morrison showed tons of promise tonight as distance swimmers for the tigers. Both took on the 500 for the first time and it proves to be a strong race for them later in the season.
Junior Jasmin Ruscher showed strength in the 50 and 100 free as it was her first meet. She looks to be a contributor for the tigers later in the season.
Other notable swims and contributions on the girls side came from Addie Schiemann in the 200 IM and 100 Fly scoring in both, while Senior Avery Gossett was also a scorer for the tigers in the 200 free and 100 breast.
Although the girls were not able to walk away with a win they did win 8 out of the 11 events.
On the boys side, Subway “Swimmer of the Meet” honors went to Mark Mendoza. His time drops in the 50 and 100 had him hit black team time standards. He also scored points for the tigers in the 50 free.
Mack Prince hit a state secondary cut tonight in the 100 free as well as placed 2nd in the 200 IM for the team. Juniors AJ Jacobus and Jack Norris went 2-3 in the 500 as well as scored points in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke respectively.
Tonight was a night of great improvement for the younger tiger boys. Daniel Young had over a 2 second PR in the 50 free while teammates Conner Schurz, Wyatt Wolberg, and Grant Martens all had season PR’s in the 50 as well. These young men are working hard in practice and are starting to see the time drops that we will need for later in the season.
Logan Kirk also had a time drop in the 100 free and placed 6th for the tigers.
Overall another solid meet for the boys, its back to work tomorrow and we are excited to keep working towards those bigger meets.
