Huskers

The Nebraska soccer team (3-2-1) suffered its second loss of the weekend, falling to Baylor, 6-0, at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field on Sunday night.

Baylor, who was receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll equivalent to the No. 27 ranking, improves to 4-2 this season. The Bears scored four goals in the first half and added two goals in the second half.

The Huskers finish non-conference play this week on the road against two ACC teams. NU faces Duke on Thursday before battling NC State on Sunday.

Creighton

The 20th-ranked Creighton men’s soccer team used a pair of first-half goals to defeat South Florida, 2-1, on Monday night at the Corbett Soccer Stadium.

The Bluejays improved to 2-1-1, while the Bulls fell to 0-4-0.
Creighton returns to action on Friday night for Socctoberfest as the Bluejays host Memphis at 7:30 p.m. at Morrison Stadium. The Tigers are coached by Creighton Athletics Hall of Famer Richard Mulrooney.

Lady Mavericks

Sophomore Andrea Daves’ first career goal boosted the Omaha women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Green Bay on Sunday afternoon.

The Mavericks improved to 1-4-1 overall, while the Phoenix moved to 1-5 on the season.

Omaha returns to action against Southern Utah on Saturday, Sept. 8.  Saturday’s match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
