Collegiate Basketball Heats Up: Midland & UNO News

The Midland University women and men’s basketball teams are on the road tonight, with games at Doane University, in Crete.  The women’s game is at 6pm, with the men’s game at 8pm.  Both games will be broadcast on Mix 105.5, FM.


The Omaha men’s basketball team plays host to Northern Arizona this Wednesday, Nov. 14 for a 7 p.m. tilt at Baxter Arena.

  • Zach Jacksonis Omaha’s latest 1,000-point scorer, having become the 39th player in program history to reach the milestone with a 21-point effort at Minnesota last Tuesday.
    • Five Mavericks have averaged double-figure scoring to start the season: Jackson (22.0 ppg), Mitch Hahn (12.5 ppg), Wanjang Tut (12.5 ppg), KJ Robinson (10.5 ppg) and Matt Pile (10.0 ppg).
    • Jackson has averaged 4.0 steals per game after a career-high five at Minnesota and three vs. Buena Vista. He ranks 11th nationally for total steals and steals per game.
    • Jackson collected second-team All-Summit accolades as a junior. Since Omaha joined the Summit League in 2012-13, 10 Mavericks have combined for 12 All-Summit awards.
    • Jackson and Hahn will both serve as team captains for the second straight year.
