Meg Brandt and Sinclaire Miramontez are two of 23 players who were selected to the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team Training Camp, May 11-18, at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif.
Brandt, a rising junior from Ankeny, Iowa, scored four goals and added one assist en route to third-team All-Big Ten honors in 2017. One of six midfielders on the training camp roster, she started all 19 games and totaled 1,645 minutes on the field for NU last season. This is Brandt’s first national team training camp invitation at any age group.
Miramontez, a Lenexa, Kan., native, helped anchor the Husker defense last season, starting all 19 games and playing all but 28 seconds of 1,848 possible minutes. Her efforts earned her second-team All-Region and first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2017. Miramontez was invited to a U-19 Women’s National Team Training Camp in March 2017 and a U-20 training camp in November 2017.
The camp will overlap with a U.S. U-20 WNT training camp also being held at the NTC and the teams will scrimmage twice, on Monday, May 14 at 9 p.m. CT in the Track & Field Stadium and on Thursday, May 17 at 6 p.m. CT on University Field 1.
