Bos and Brand Named All-GPAC First Team, Seven Other Warriors Honored

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the 2018 GPAC Baseball All-Conference team, as voted on by the league coaches.  The 2018 GPAC All-Conference Team consists of 17 first-team members and 18 second-team members, and an honorable mention list.

Nate DeChaine of Morningside College what named the Player of the Year while Nick Little of Concordia University was named Pitcher of the Year. Brian Wede of Northwestern College was selected as the Coach of the Year.

Tanner Bos and Billy Brand both earned First Team honors as first base and relief pitcher, respectively. Bos is a senior from Fresno, California and Brand is a junior from Burlington, Ontario. Bos was also named to the Gold Glove Team for his defensive play in the field.

Second team honors went to pitchers Torrey Escamilla and Dakota Cortese. Escamilla is a senior from Fremont, Nebraska and Cortese is a senior from Laurel, Montana.

Rounding out the honors were Armando Fajardo (3B, Sr., San Mateo, California), Buddy Balsino (OF, Sr., Tucson, Arizona), Hayden Bailey (RP, Sr., Lewisburg, Tennessee), Justin Trevino (2B, Sr., La Vernia, Texas), and Andrew Brooks (C, Jr., Tucson, Arizona).

Midland (32-20, 16-10 GPAC) finished second in the GPAC during the regular season and were runners-up in the GPAC Postseason Tournament. They have earned an automatic bid to the NAIA Opening Round which is set for May 14-17 at a site yet to be determined.
