Bergan stays Alive! 2-1 win over Kearney

Brody Sintek pitched a complete-game three-hitter Wednesday to lead Fremont Bergan to a 2-1 win over Kearney in an elimination game at the Class A state baseball tournament.

Sintek struck out eight and allowed only a fourth-inning run.

Jackson Gilfry led off the 5th inning with a single.   Dawson Glause’s sac bunt moved him over to 2nd.  Dillon Dix singled to score Gilfry and tie the game. Dix advanced to second on the single on a Kearney throwing error.  Austin Callahan then doubled to left center to score Dix.

Austin Callahan had three hits to pace the Knights, who boosted their tournament record to 2-1.   Eli Herink, Mitchell Glause, and Brennan Callahan also had hits in the win.

The Bearcats, competing in varsity baseball for the first time this season, finish 18-10.

Bergan improves to 16-5, and will play Millard South in an elimination game at noon today at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.  Hear the broadcast with Rich Ray, beginning at 11:45, on Mix 105.5.  The game can be heard online at thebestmix1055.com
