Legion

The First State Bank American Legion seniors baseball team, completed a suspended game, from last week, by defeating Gretna, 3-2, last night at Novak Field.  Dillon Dix hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh, for the victory.  Brody Sintek the winning, striking out 15 and giving up three hits.  Sintek is 8-0 on the season.  First State is now 20-6 and hosts Columbus in a doubleheader tonight at Novak Field, beginning at 5pm.  Game two at approximately 7:30pm will be broadcast on Big Dog 98.9 FM and 1340 AM.

The Blair senior legion defeated Elkhorn, at Vet’s Field, last night, 12-4.

DCBL

In Dodge County Baseball League action tonight, Wahoo plays at Arlington, North Bend is at Blair, Dodge plays at Leigh/Schuyler and Yutan is at West Point.  All games begin at 7:30pm.

Fremont Moo

The Fremont Moo plated eighteen runs on a franchise record nineteen hits on Wednesday evening at Moller field en route to an eleven-run victory over the Casper Horseheads 18-7.

Two of the three highest scoring totals in Moo history have now come against the Casper Horseheads including a fifteen-run performance in a 21-15 loss earlier this season. The win went to Kale Parks (2-3) who struck out a season high eight batters. Moo all-star selection Cade Kirkemo threw two scoreless innings running his scoreless innings streak to 16.2

The Moo will go for a sweep against the Horseheads on Thursday as part of Throwback Thursday and Thirsty Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35. The final round begins at 7 a.m., with Schaake and Kluver set to start at noon.

Lincoln Saltdogs

John Brownell tossed the ninth shutout of his career, and the Saltdogs beat the Goldeyes 6-0 at Haymarket Park on Wednesday night. Brownell’s complete game was the 39th of his career, and the 36-year-old allowed just six hits with a pair of walks and five strikeouts. The shutout was Lincoln’s second of the year after Nick Tepesch finished one on June 30th, and the third complete game of the year.

Curt Smith had two more hits and a second home run in as many nights, and Ivan Marin had a two-run single as part of a five-run 4th inning.

Lincoln has a shot to sweep a series for the second time this season. First-pitch time on Friday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
