The 2019 College World Series national semifinals are set for Friday following Louisville’s walk-off win over Mississippi State Thursday night.

The Cardinals rallied with two runs in the ninth to knock out the Bulldogs 4-3. Drew Campbell had the game-winning hit after Danny Oriente tied it up one batter before. Louisville will face Vanderbilt Friday night. Michigan and Texas Tech will play in the first semifinals matchup at 1 p.m.

Michigan and Vanderbilt are both 2-0 in the College World Series, needing just one win to advance to the national championship series. Louisville and Texas Tech would need to win Friday as well as Saturday’s if necessary game to advance to the finals.


The First State Bank American Legion Juniors Baseball team plays in the Elkhorn Tournament, today.  Competition runs through Sunday.

The First State Bank Reserve Legion team plays in the Gretna Tournament today.  Competition runs through the weekend.

The Blair Senior Legion baseball team plays in the Omaha South Tournament, beginning, today and running through the weekend, while the juniors will play in the Elkhorn Tournament.


In Dodge County Baseball League Action last night, Scribner defeated Dodge, 6-2.

Last night’s Fremont Moo at Hub City Hot Shot game was cancelled.  The Moo return home to host the Western Nebraska Pioneers at Moller Field, at 6:35, tonight.

Kyle Kinman and Austin Boyle combined to give up one run over 10 innings, and held on long enough for the ‘Dogs to win, 2-1, on a walk-off wild pitch against the Milwaukee Milkmen in the 10th inning at Haymarket Park on Thursday night.

The ‘Dogs avoided a sweep and continue the homestand with three games against the Texas AirHogs over the weekend. First pitch time on Friday is set for 7:05 p.m.
