For the fourth time in six years, the Nebraska baseball team is heading to the NCAA Tournament. The Huskers (31-22) will travel to the Oklahoma City Regional this weekend, along with No. 9 national seed Oklahoma State, UConn and Harvard. NU will represent the No. 3 seed in the Regional.
The Huskers open the tournament on Friday against UConn, starting at noon (CT) on ESPN3. Oklahoma State and Harvard face off Friday at 6 p.m. (CT) on ESPN3.
The Creighton Bluejays baseball team will return to the NCAA Regionals, playing in the Corvallis, Regional. The Bluejays open the tournament versus Michigan, Friday, at 3pm.
The Omaha baseball team was selected to the NCAA Los Angeles Regional as a No. 4 seed, the NCAA announced Monday.
It marks the first time in program history that the Mavericks will play in an NCAA Division I regional. Omaha (31-22-1) opens postseason play against No. 1 national seed UCLA (47-8) on Friday, May 31 at 9 p.m. CT on ESPN3. No. 2 Baylor (34-17) and No. 3 Loyola Marymount (32-23) play the first game of the regional at 3 p.m. CT on Friday.
Omaha earned an automatic bid to the tournament after the team captured The Summit League Baseball Tournament Championship for the first time in program history.
Dodge County Baseball League
In Dodge County Baseball League Action, Sunday, Wahoo beat Blair, 14-0. It was Arlington over North Bend, 14-0; Dodge beat Yutan, via a forfeit and West Point beat Scribner, 14-2.
In junior legion baseball, Friday, Blair beat Omaha South, 3-1. Saturday, the Blair senior legion beat Hooper-Scribner, 14-2. Weather permitting, the Blair junior and senior legion teams host Concordia at 5:30 and 8:00, tonight at Vet’s Field.
Weather permitting, the First State Bank American Legion juniors and seniors open their seasons tonight, hosting Lincoln High. The juniors play at 5:00 and the seniors play at 7:30 at Novak Field. The seniors game will be broadcast on Big Dog 98.9 FM and 1340 AM.
The Fremont Moo went 1-1 over the weekend. After a 2-0 loss at Hastings, Friday, Fremont won 8-6, Saturday.
