MLB on Walnut Radio

Cubs left-hander Cole Hamels and Mets ace Jacob deGrom staged a stellar pitching duel for part of Tuesday night’s game that was suspended because of rain.

Play was stopped in the top of the 10th inning with the score tied at 1. The game will resume on Wednesday at noon CT prior to the series finale at Wrigley Field, which is slated for a 1:20 start, on Boomer 1490 and 104.1 FM.

Omaha Storm Chasers

Colorado Springs second baseman Tyler Saladino slapped a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning after Storm Chasers center fielder Donnie Dewees and first baseman Frank Schwindel homered in a 4-3 Sky Sox victory over Omaha on Tuesday night at Werner Park.

The two teams are set to play a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 5:05 p.m.

Lincoln Saltdogs

The Lincoln Saltdogs smacked 17 hits and beat the Texas AirHogs 13-4 in front of 3,571 fans on Git-R-Done Night at Haymarket Park.

Comedian Larry the Cable Guy entertained the crowd by participating in in-game activities throughout the night.  The Nebraska native threw out the first pitch, coached first base, worked as the PA announcer.

The rubber match win means the Saltdogs have won six of their last seven series.  They try to move above .500 for the first time since July 22nd by beating Cleburne on Wednesday.  First pitch at Haymarket Park is at 6:45 PM
