Witnesses Help Fremont Police Catch Dangerous Driver

FREMONT – An out of control driver frightened other motorists and could have caused serious injury this weekend; thanks to several witnesses, Fremont Police were able to intervene.

Around 8:45PM Saturday, police arrested William H. Fisher, 45, of Fremont after he was observed operating a motor vehicle in an erratic manner.  Witnesses reported that Fisher’s vehicle was swerving on the roadway and also struck a street sign in the 2300 block of north Airport Road.

Responding officers made contact with Fisher outside of a residence in the 1500 block of Ohio Street.  His vehicle showed signs of a collision that matched the damage reported by witnesses, and he showed signs of impairment consistent with the consumption of alcoholic beverages.  Police learned that Fisher does not have a Nebraska Operator’s License, and after questioning, refused to submit to a breath test.

He was arrested and charged with Driving under the influence of Alcohol, Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, and No Operator’s License.
