Well Testing, Tetanus Shots Available from Health Departments

FREMONT – Private well testing and tetanus shots will be provided to those affected by flooding or who are working clean up in the aftermath this week by two health service departments.

First, the Department of Health and Human Services has partnered with the EPA to bring a mobile lab to three Nebraska communities to provide free private well water testing this week, Thursday 3/21 through Sunday 3/24.

This is for private well owners only. City of Fremont water is safe to drink and under no usage restriction. City of North Bend water is safe to drink but the sewer system is currently under extremely limited use – quick showers only, flush toilets sparingly. Winslow water and sewers are not safe (as declared March 19) until further notice.

Before working in areas affected by flood waters, make sure your tetanus vaccination is up to date. If you are going to be helping with flood relief or affected by flooding the answer is probably yes. Three Rivers Public Health Department will be visiting multiple cities throughout the county – Thursday times and locations are:
