FREMONT – Flooded road repairs are still ongoing throughout the state, with work on Highway 91 and Highway 30 in the forefront of many minds in our immediate area, followed by the bridge on 275 at West Center Road.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation shared one hopeful update on Saturday, saying that the paving project on the destroyed section of Highway 91 between Nickerson & Fontanelle is complete. The new pavement needs to cure for a few days longer, but NDOT District 2 supervisor Tim Weander says Highway 91 will reopen this week. “We still have some shoulder work to do, so we will be flagging traffic during the daytime,” he said, noting that there will be single lane traffic only during the day with two lane traffic in the evening and overnight, at least for a while. “We’re hoping that by Friday, we’ll be fully open on 91.”
Work is proceeding on Highway 30, as well. “We’re supposed to be laying some asphalt this week to complete that project,” said Weander. “Depending on what the weather’s going to do.” Weander says that, weather permitting, the DOT also hopes to have Highway 30 open by Friday or Saturday this week.
Finally, work on the Highway 275/West Center Rd bridge is underway, with bridge work proceeding on schedule for a reopening in July.
