Tree Fire Causes Late Night Stir in Fremont Neighborhood

FREMONT – A central Fremont neighborhood had quite the stir last night when a mature tree made contact with a power line and caught fire.

At 11:13 last night, a call came in reporting a tree on fire at 220 East 10th street, about a block north and east of John C. Fremont city park. A 75 foot oak tree made contact with the power lines, causing  an electrical arc that sparked the fire. The department of utilities helped contain the fire, then Fremont Fire Department brought out a fire engine to put the fire out completely.

No homes were damaged, but the tree has extensive fire damage and will likely need to be removed.
