Three Rivers Public Health Department identifies two new cases of COVID-19

FREMONT – Three Rivers Public Health Department (3RPHD) announced two additional cases of COVID-19  Wednesday evening, one in Dodge county and one in Saunders.
The Dodge County resident is a female in her 30s who is self-isolating at home. Contact investigations were completed, and those identified as close contacts have already been notified.   All identified close contacts will self-quarantine and be actively monitored twice daily by public health officials for fever and respiratory symptoms. This case has been determined to be community acquired, and is Dodge County’s 4th case.
The second case is in Saunders County, and is a close contact of the case identified yesterday at the Saunders County Department of Corrections. The new case is that of a Saunders county female in her 20s. She is self-isolating at home.  Contact investigations are currently being completed.
“We are working with the Saunders County Sheriff’s Department to ensure the health and safety of all employees and inmates,” said Terra Uhing, Executive Director of Three Rivers Public Health Department. “More information will be provided tomorrow.” This is Saunders County’s 3rd case.
“Regarding our Washington county cases, due to a unique set of circumstances at the Carter House that led to a temporary facility closure, I am now able to confirm that our Carter House residents were admitted to Midlands Hospital,” Uhing said. Midlands Hospital has reopened a floor as a quarantine unit for patients that either had COVID-19 or an exposure to COVID-19. “We know that our Carter House residents are getting terrific care and the staff there are equipped to take of them,” said Terra Uhing, Executive Director of Three Rivers Public Health Department.  There are 19 cases in Washington county.
The Three Rivers Public Health Department will continue to update our community as new information becomes available.  For more information about COVID-19 please visit www.threeriverspublichealth.org  or http://dhhs.ne.gov/coronavirus.
