FREMONT – The brand new Dillon Family Aquatics Center will be hosting its first ever large scale swim meet this Saturday.
More than 350 youths, ages 6 to 18, from all across the state will be competing in the State YMCA Swim meet. The new 30,000 square foot facility is uniquely equipped to handle such an enormous meet – the 50 meter pool is only the second pool of it’s kind in the state. The university of Nebraska at Omaha has the only other 50 meter pool. One body of water with six 50 meter lanes running east and west, and 12- 25 yard lanes running north and south, the pool can accommodate more swimmers than most.
Families of visiting swimmers in the spectator’s seats are in for a treat, with seating for 400 people and an excellent view of the action from high above the pool. Swimmers themselves will have access to two lockers rooms, a steam room, hot tub, family changing rooms; plus the Dillon Family Aquatics center boasts a diving well and a splash pad.
This will be a record setting event – swimmers can expect to produce fast times because of the special gutter system installed in this pool. The gutters are nearly level with the pool itself, absorbing the splash and swell created when swimmers turn. When the swell is absorbed, increased drag on the swimmer is almost nonexistent.
All that boils down to fast times and an exciting day at the brand new Dillon Family Aquatics Center for the State YMCA Swim Meet – doors open at 7:30AM.
