FREMONT – Joey Spellerberg officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of Fremont Tuesday and has filed paperwork to run for the office. The owner of Moostash Joe Tours, a 45-year old family business located in Fremont, says he wants to give back and make a difference in a community that has invested so much in him.
“I am running for mayor because I love Fremont. I was born in Fremont, left for college, but moved back to run our family business and raise my family here” said Spellerberg. “The people of Fremont are some of the most giving, hardest working people of character you will ever meet. I hope to represent them with the same integrity, commitment, and work ethic that makes our community so special.”
Spellerberg was born and raised in Fremont and graduated from Archbishop Bergan High School. He earned a degree in Marketing and Sales from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he met and married his wife Ashley. Joey and Ashley returned to Fremont after they received a call from his father Moostash Joe and took over Moostash Joe Tours.
Spellerberg is a graduate of Leadership Fremont and serves as a board member of the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce. He is also chairman of the annual Fremont Area Leadership Prayer Breakfast, a community event on Good Friday. As a business leader, Spellerberg has grown Moostash Joe Tours from a small home-based business, to a team of over 40 people, adding many new jobs to the Fremont community. He was recently named a Top 10 next gen of Group Travel. In 2019, Moostash Joe Tours received the Groups Today Magazine TODAY! Award, a nationally recognized award presented to one of over 300 tour operators that demonstrate they have what it takes to make an impact in the group travel industry today, especially in terms of relevancy, impact, growth, advocacy and innovation.
Spellerberg looks forward to connecting with citizens across the community as he goes door-to-door and hosts community events, which he hopes will give citizens the opportunity to get to know him better.
“I want to be a part of Fremont growing together. My goal is to unite our community on issues that matter to all of us,” Spellerberg said. “Together we can continue to make our future bright.”
