Scattered storms moved through the region Sunday, downing tree limbs, causing flash flooding in northeast Nebraska and northwest Iowa and again raising the general threat of flooding.
The National Weather Service is monitoring heavy rainfall in the Sioux City area with an eye toward Missouri River levels. Minor flooding is forecast on the Missouri from Plattsmouth south into Missouri.
Alyson Hoegg, meteorologist with AccuWeather Inc., The World-Herald’s weather consultant, said Omaha could see spotty showers and storms Monday.
Whether rains spoil the first game of the championship series of the College World Series, scheduled to start at 6 p.m., depends upon how conditions unfold , she said. Prolonged rain or clouds in the morning will lessen the chance of evening storms, she said.
As of Sunday night, indications were that severe storms would occur farther east into Iowa, she said.
