FREMONT – Up to 300 Fremont Utilities customers were impacted by power outages caused by the heavy snow, high winds, and ice that hit the city last night.
Reports of power outages started coming in around 7PM on Tuesday, with the majority of affected customers on the northeast side of Fremont. Even after the snow stopped, high winds caused the conductor lines to bounce and ice together, forcing crews to repeatedly work on the same lines. Several fuses were lost throughout the power system, and needed to be replaced. No poles fell, but two lines were pulled down by trees. Crews worked through the night, from around 7PM Tuesday until power was restored to all Fremont Utilities customers around 7AM today.
If you’re still experiencing an outage, call the Department of Utilities at 402-727-2600 to make a report.
