FREMONT – The pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning were not passed quietly for the Fremont Police, as officers responded to two property invasion complaints.
Thursday morning around 3:00AM, officers responded to an address in the 600 block of west Washington Street after receiving a report of suspicious activity in the home. The residence had been evacuated by its actual residents due to the March floods and should have been unoccupied. Instead, when police arrived they discovered Shawn C. Donnelly, 43, of Fremont and Timothy S. Montanye, 33, also of Fremont squatting in the residence.
Donnelly and Montanye attempted to conceal themselves within the home, and when discovered by police, the men refused to vacate the property. As a result, they were arrested on suspicion of 1st Degree Trespassing and Obstructing a Peace Officer.
Just a few hours later, a burglary was reported from a residence in the 1800 block of north Irving Street. The resident reported to police that sometime between 5:00AM and 6:10AM, someone entered their home through a side door. Reported stolen were prescription medications and makeup brushes. There are no suspects at this time, but an investigation is underway.
