The 2018 America’s Health Rankings Senior Report was recently released, which displays information about the health of senior citizens in the United States. The report revealed that Nebraska is ranked 25th healthiest state in the nation, which is lower than last year when Nebraska was ranked 24th.
The report revealed that Nebraska’s strengths include a high percentage of volunteerism, high community support expenditures and high flu vaccination coverage. Nebraska’s challenges include a low prevalence of health screenings, low percentage of diabetes management and low home health care worker rate.
Additionally, the report shows senior citizens who live in rural areas have worse health care outcomes compared to seniors who live in suburban and urban areas. They also have fewer preventive services.
