Midland Volleyball Hires Dani Magdzas as Asst Coach

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University head volleyball coach Paul Giesselmann has announced the addition of Dani Magdzas to his coaching staff for the 2019 season.

Magdzas is a native of Superior, Wisconsin and comes to Midland after spending the past two seasons on the staff at Winona State University where she served as a graduate assistant under head coach Joe Getzin.

“We are proud of Dani and excited for her as she takes the next step in her coaching career,” said Coach Getzin. “We will miss her enthusiasm and expertise and know that she will be an excellent fit for Midland’s championship-level program. We wish her and Midland much success.”

Originally from Superior, Wisconsin, Dani played four seasons at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota before beginning her coaching career in 2017. She earned bachelor’s degrees in both Exercise Science and Fitness Management from Augustana and will finish her master’s degree in Sports Management this spring.

“We are excited to have Dani join our nationally ranked program,” Midland head coach Paul Giesselmann stated. “We had a lot of interest in the position and after talking with several people, Dani’s resume quickly rose to the top of the stack. She is high character, highly organized, and played in a good college program. I really liked that she was a GA under a very experienced coach who gave her a lot of responsibilities. We are looking forward to Dani joining our volleyball family.”

Last season Midland went 26-8 and made the NAIA National Championship for the sixth consecutive season. They advanced to the NAIA National Semifinals for the second time in three seasons and finished the year ranked No. 4 in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
