Man’s Blood Alcohol Nearly Twice the Legal Limit During Accident

FREMONT – A Burt county man was arrested following a property damage collision in Fremont yesterday when officers discovered he had been drinking.

Monday afternoon, just after 5PM, Fremont Police responded to the scene of a two vehicle property damage accident in the 200 block of north Main Street. As part of their investigation, officers had contact with the driver of one of the vehicles involved, one Jerry C. Wyman, 57, of Lyons.

As officers spoke with Wyman, they noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Wyman. When asked, he admitted he had consumed alcoholic beverages.  Wyman failed a preliminary breath test and was arrested.  He was charged with Driving under the Influence in excess of .150 – an offense which carries enhanced DUI penalties in the state of Nebraska.
