FREMONT – MainStreet of Fremont will host a new event and bring back a family favorite in the month of October.
During the 2nd Annual Fall Festival, Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th, MainStreet will host a new event called Sand Sculptures on Main. Teams from around the area will work to build the most impressive sand sculpture, and visitors can vote on their favorite to be crowned the first ever Sand Sculpture champion. The competition will be held downtown in the parking lot on the northwest corner of 6th and Park. This space will be occupied by the preparations for, and the contest itself, from October 8th through 14th, so those who work downtown will need to use street parking or utilize other parking lots.
Spectators are encouraged to come downtown beginning Friday, October 11th at noon to see the contest. First State Bank and Trust will serve a free lunch to everyone dressed in their favorite school’s spirit wear on Friday around noon. A sand play area will allow little kids to create sculptures of their own, too. Voting will be open through Saturday the 12th at noon, followed by the crowning of the champion team.
About a week later, MainStreet of Fremont will once again host perennial favorite, Halloween Hysteria. This trick or treating event takes kids throughout downtown’s participating businesses on Thursday, October 17th from 5PM to 7PM.
Kids & parents are invited to trick or treat the businesses and go through other fun events like Don Peterson & Associate’s Haunted Walk, First National Bank’s Haunted Bank for kids, Face Painting and Halloween Story Time with Gallery 92 West and Keene Memorial Library. The annual Children’s Costume Contest will be held once again at the May Brother’s Building on 6th & Park Street, hosted by the Fremont Downtown Development Group. The Children’s Costume Contest begins at 5:30PM.
