FREMONT – A good samaritan found more than they anticipated when they searched a lost purse for the owner’s ID.
On Tuesday morning, a purse was found unattended in a business around 800 south Broad street. An employee of the business took a look through the purse, hoping to find a cell phone or ID to identify the owner of the bag. Instead, the employee discovered a plastic baggie containing a suspicious white powder and called authorities.
Responding officers tested the substance and determined it to be methamphetamine. While officers were in the middle of further investigating, Diane K. Wilson, 58, of Fremont returned to the business and claimed ownership of the purse. Based on the officers interview of Wilson and review of further evidence at the scene, Wilson was subsequently arrested and will face charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
