Local Schools Invite Area Veterans to Attend Veteran’s Day Programs

FREMONT – Area veterans and their families are invited to join the Fremont Tigers and the Bergan Knights at a set of special Veteran’s Day programs in their honor.

Fremont High’s annual Veteran’s Day program will be held on Monday, November 11th, Veteran’s day, in the Al Bahe Gym from 11:00-11:30AM.  Guest speaker, Lt. Col. John Witzel of the U.S. Air Force, will speak to students and their families about the sacrifices and heroism that runs through the history of the US Military.

All veterans or active duty service members are invited to the Veterans’ Day Program. Servicemembers are welcome to wear their uniform, if they wish.  “We ask that anyone planning on attending, please call the high school office to notify us,” said Dr. Mary K. Trehearn, English Instructor at FHS, “so we will have appropriate seating accommodations for all.”

Dr. Trehearn also had another request:  “Let’s all wear red, white, and blue in support of the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our nation.”

At Archbishop Bergan Catholic Schools, the elementary will recognize veterans at morning meeting starting at 8:05 am in the Elementary Gym with a Veteran’s Day program. “We invite any Veteran that has a connection to Bergan to be present and celebrate with us,” said Bonnie Nebuda at the school.

The Middle & High School will also have a special assembly at 9:40 am in the Gary Schmidt Gymnasium. Veterans are also invited to this assembly, during which students will honor all those that have served.
