FREMONT – Fremont Police arrested a Lincoln man for violating a protection order and assaulting an ex-girlfriend.
According to Lt. Ed Watts with the department, at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sunday Officers received a report of a disturbance between 22-year-old Derek J. Roth of Lincoln and his ex-girlfriend at a hotel in the 1600 block of E. 23rd Street.
The investigation showed Roth had physically assaulted his ex-girlfriend. It was also learned she had obtained a protection order against him and the order prohibited him from obtaining a firearm. During contact with Roth officers located a .22 semi-automatic pistol in his car. Roth was arrested and charged with Third Degree Domestic Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Violating a Protection Order.
Also on Sunday at 5:20 p.m. officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 800 block of N. Main Street in regards to a Fremont man injuring a child. The investigation showed 52-year-old Stewart E. Triggs had injured an 11-year-old boy who was allegedly being argumentative. The boy sustained only minor injuries during the incident. Triggs was arrested and charged with Child Abuse.
And at approximately 6 p.m. 37-year-old Rue L. Terpening of Fremont was cited for Disturbing the Peace. The citation came after Terpening was accused of threatening another man at a residence in the 200 block of W. 23rd Street.
