Hot Chili, Chilling Decorations & More: Fall Fun for Everyone at the Fremont State Lakes

FREMONT – Most people hit the lakes in the heat of summer, but there’s just as much to do at the Fremont Lakes SRA in the fall.

Coming up next Friday and Saturday, October 12th & 13th, the Fremont Lakes will host three fun events: a photography show, a chili cookoff, and a Halloween campsite decorating contest.

The photography show will be held on Friday, October 12th from 5PM to 8PM. You can participate in the show by submitting your own photo. Photos must have been taken at the Fremont Lakes sometime this year, and should be printed & brought to the park office by October 11th. Photos will be shown on Friday the 12th, and can be picked back up the following week.

Saturday the 13th, the Fremont Lakes will host a chili cookoff. Bring your very best chili to the Chili Cookoff judge’s tent in front of the park office by 3PM – stop by the office before hand to get your bowl to fill for judging. Entries will be judged on taste, texture and visual appeal. Up to three people can be on a single chili cooking team. Winners will be announced at 4PM, Saturday.

Following the chili cookoff will be the annual Halloween Campsite Decorating Contest and trick or treat. Pay for a campsite at the office or online, then decorate any campsite with your spookiest decorations and hand out candy. Parks visitors are encouraged to bring their costumed children to trick-or-treat between the decorated campsites during judging, between 5PM and 7PM on Saturday the 13th.

A park entry pass is required for all activities.
