Local public health departments, Three Rivers and Elkhorn/Logan Valley, have recommended public and parochial schools do not plan on returning to school for the 2019-2020 school year. Fremont Public Schools, Trinity Lutheran Schools and Archbishop Bergan announced this, March 24, 2020.
Mark Shepard, Greg Rathke and Dan Koenig made statements that based on this recommendation they do not anticipate returning to school for the remainder of the academic year and will continue to operate under these guidelines unless otherwise directed. Is it possible this recommendation could change? Yes, it is possible, but they also don’t want to give false hope.
Alternative learning will still continue to work within the schools and grades. There are details and plans that will continue to change and be fluid as everything that comes with the current global health circumstances. Parents will continue to be updated and in communication with schools in regard to alternate learning and an opportunity to retrieve personal items. Currently, wanting to focus on the health of the students, faculty and staff is of the utmost importance.
