FREMONT – The Fremont Area Habitat for Humanity hopes to finish construction on their newest home project before we ring in the new year, but hope alone cannot build a home and volunteers are sorely needed for November and December build days.
Habitat for Humanity received a grant from Thrivent Financial to fully support the construction cost of one home in 2018. That home, being built at 520 E. 5th Street will be purchased through the Habitat program on a zero-interest loan by Ashley Fisher.
“Ashley is a fantastic member of our community and mother to three great kiddos,” said Emily Jones, Habitat for Humanity’s volunteer coordinator. Thrivent and Fremont Area Habitat for Humanity have come together in the months of November and December with a goal to finish up the home. “We are asking any and all Thrivent Members to join us on this project,” Jones continued. Additionally, any member of the community can volunteer their time to help out with the construction. Jobs include painting and laying tile along with installing doors, light fixtures, and trim.
Habitat for Humanity work days are every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You can sign up for a shift on the Habitat website at www.fremonthabitat.org or contact them at (402) 721-8771.
