FREMONT – Two more Fremont residents were the victims of thieves who appear to be targeting property left in vehicles, and now, garages. Although there is no conclusive evidence linking the Tuesdays thefts to the rash of similar thefts from vehicles that occurred over the weekend, the similarities are hard to dismiss.
Tuesday morning, a burglary was reported at a residence in the 700 block of north Nye Avenue. The victim reported that an unknown person entered the garage through an unlocked door and rummaged through a vehicle in the garage before taking gift cards and personal identification belonging to the victim. The estimated loss of property is $200.00.
Later Tuesday morning, another theft was reported at a residence at a residence in the 800 block of west Linden Street. The victim reported that someone entered his vehicle, parked on the street in front of the residence and left unlocked, and took approximately $125.00 in various tools from the vehicle.
Residents are urged to remove any valuable property from their vehicles immediately. Lock your doors. Never leave anything of value in your vehicle, locked or unlocked. Park in driveways where possible, and leave porch lights on in the overnight hours.
